A universal language seems like a good idea on the surface, as aside from the cultural and economical consequences, it would mean better understanding and communication worldwide. You can, however, influence the meaning of words by altering the examples and definitions people give when teaching them, or by adding and removing words from the general lexicon to control expression. Through this, over time, you can change and manipulate society (because words are the tools we use to manage it). I wonder then could this be a reason that it's so important that words and their uses evolve naturally, this seems to me to be a reason it's actually imortant not to have a universal language.
